REmoval of Bees/Wasps/Hornets

Finding a stinging insect nest can be alarming. If you locate a nest or suspect you may have a nest in the ground or in your walls, contact our office to receive a quote.

We will need the following information to provide a quote:

  • Address including the zip code
  • Photo of the nest zoomed in
  • Photo of the nest and ground in the same photo
  • (Optional) Video of the insects flying in/around the nest
  • This is helpful for Yellow Jackets in the ground or walls

We need a confirmed nest in order to schedule an appointment. At this time we do not offer inspections to locate nests.

CARPENTER BEES

Some will tell you that you need to treat & plug up the carpenter bee holes when you find them; however, plugging the holes without completely eliminating the colony first will only make the damage to the home much worse. While treating & plugging the holes may kill any adult bees inside, the tunnels will also become clogged with dead bees. This prevents any new hatchlings from coming into contact with the insecticide and they will simply eat their way out through the side of the boards once they hatch. It will also prevent any outside bees from entering and coming into contact with the insecticide. The pregnant females will simply find a new area and begin chewing new holes.

Treating and leaving the holes open allows these 3 essential steps to happen to eliminate a carpenter bee colony:

  1. Any adult bees inside the galleries (holes) are allowed to leave and expire outside, allowing any new hatchlings to simply exit the gallery and come into contact with the insecticide on the way out.
  2. Any outside bees will be able to freely enter the holes and come into contact with the insecticide. Throughout the season, the open holes will allow any new wandering males or pregnant females to continue to enter and come into contact with the insecticide. This essentially transforms your home from a carpenter bee mating ground to an extremely effective carpenter bee trap.
  3. Carpenter bees will not be able to lay eggs inside the galleries. Coming into contact with the insecticide on the way into the tunnel will not allow the female to continue the hard labor of laying eggs and collecting food. The strong pheromone left inside the galleries during this process will begin to break down. This pheromone will continue to attract any new mating bees for several years. If the holes are plugged and the pheromone is still present, new mating bees will simply eat through the boards to get access to the galleries, creating more damage.

We will contact you every spring to confirm that year’s annual treatment and add you to our schedule. After 3 consecutive annual treatments, our team can recommend sealing the carpenter bee galleries in the Fall.
